Oil Palm

Enhanced Palm Oil Quality and Quantity

Transformation of Large Scale Plantation
Agricultural Revolution of Large Scale Cash-crop Plantation

Our daily life is tight connected to oil. The oil producing corps could also affect the global economy. Therefore the agricultural revolution with EarthFoods™ does not limited to small-scale plantation owner or farmers, its strength will enhance the large-scale plantation effectively.

Since 2010, EarthFoods™ already started cooperation with FELDA in Research & Development for palm planting. FELDA ranks as the 3rd largest palm oil plantation in the world. In 2012 it became the world's second IPO only after Facebook. Until now FELDA owns 850 thousand hectares of palm oil plantation area.

Trial test results since 2013 shows an outstanding improvement regarding the yield, quality, the soil quality and the prevention ability against diseases. The trial data offered KhaiEL precious experiences.

July 2014, FELDA Report of Palm Oil Extraction Quantity after using EF

NO Sample Identification Category of ripeness Average Weight of fruit bunches (kg) Average fruit weight (g) Oil content (%)
1 38 Ripe 23.80 16.70 30.47
2 45 Ripe 13.00 10.89 33.17
3 58 Ripe 22.00 8.95 32.98
4 67 Ripe 25.00 10.45 30.68
5 95 Ripe 18.80 6.59 30.99
Average 20.52 10.72 31.66*

* Previously, Malaysia's CPO extraction rates (OER) is 20.62.
After using EF for two years, without increase the current planting costs, the OER has increased to 31.66. (increased by 53.5%).
Regarding to his 3 million Ton annual production, FELDA will achieve a huge economic benefit out of this improvement.

Statement

FREE FATTY ACID (FFA%) that above 5% is classified as non-edible palm oil.
DOBI(Deterioration of Bleachability Index) above 3 is considered as good quality.

Due to hot and humid weather in Malaysia, the harvested fruits has to be delivered for processing immediately, before the deterioration process destroy its quality. But due to the location of plantation, the transportation of fruits from deep forest is so difficult, costs lots of time and very risky.

Earth Foods is the solution to these issues whereby it can delay the decaying rate of harvested fruits for one week. The loss by transportation would be minimized.

Cancer of Palm Oil Tree

The Palm plantation in the whole world is suffering from Ganoderma disease (aka Basal Stem Rot), which attacks the palm tree stems.
The incidence of the palm is between 30-40%, which most occur on the 10-12 year old trees. Ganoderma disease results in 80% reduction of fruits yield and is consideres a fatal disease. Each year Ganoderma disease causes enormous loss of more than one billion in Malaysia palm oil industry.

KhaiEL GmbH treated this as an environmental sickness due to overuse of chemicals. The soil fails to maintain its biodiversity and become acidic that leads to breeding of harmful bacteria.

Earth Foods revitalize the soil structure and activate the microorganisms that fight against Ganoderma bacteria as well as improve the condition of the tree itself. The palm oil tree is recovered after 1 year. (Refer to the figure)

Ganoderma grew on roots(Top Left) Rotten of root system (Top Right)
A fallen tree (Bottom Left, Bottom Right)

The bacteria attack the root system. Figure above shows the cross section area of palm oil root. The arrow pointed at the root (Top) and the tree stem (Bottom) are being attacked by fungus.

Bacteria

Total bacteria amount

Expressed as colony forming /unit CFU/g of fertilizer or soil

Average= 2.21 x 104 CFU/g fertilizer in pellet form

Average =1.63 x 105 CFU/g soil

Earth Foods enhance not only the soil structure, but also the biodiversity of good bacteria. Agriculture Department of UTAR Univertsity has discovered that, this big group of activated good bacteria found in EF and soil help in balancing the ecological cycle within the soil, which insured the high soil quality. This is indeed a big breakthrough in Palm Oil industry.

Conclusion

  • Soil: EF recovery the bio-diversity, balance soil pH and soil organic matters. Earthworms can be found after using EF for 1 month.
  • Tree: Tree trunk is thicker. The palm trees were bigger and stronger.
  • Disease: Cure the palms from suffering Ganoderma disease.
  • Yield: huge Increase of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB).
  • Oil Content: Improvement of Oil Extraction Rate (OER).
  • Quality: Maintain the best quality of palm oil (DOBI).
  • Free Fatty Acid: Maintains FFA in fruits below 1.7% in 5 days after harvest, to reach higher fruits quality again oxidation and deterioration.

Reduced Labour Cost

Time is Gold
Future agriculture will be less dependent on work force by application of high efficient technology.

In May 2015, we managed to save enormous personal and material costs of raising palm oil seedling, by reducing fertilization from12 times to only 2 times.

In fact, Earth Foods Technology produce fertilizers with smaller molecular size nutrients, which can be absorbed by plants completely, so that no additional NPK will be needed. Earth Foods with lower NPK(8-8-6 ) can achieve equivalent effects as much higher NPK(16-16-16 ).
